Keeps the large backpack nicely strapped to your carry on case without breaking your back as you add more weight to back pack! Just used this on a trip to Hawaii from Atlanta. The strap is very stretchable, and when not in used, I wrap it up and put it the soft front pocket on my roller carry on case (samsonite). This device was very handy to prevent the large back pack I had from slipping off the roller carry on case. The direction is displayed so no confusion at all. I love this! I travel a great deal for work so I have a pretty good affection for good travel gear.
