I think it’s best use is on the plane (for carry on luggage) … I use this lock for my tack box at the barn. I used it to solve two problems. First, a rigid lock didn’t fit over the thick plastic from the top and side. Second, I don’t have my reading glasses at the barn and couldn’t ever get into my combination lock without hiking to the car to retrieve them, which I don’t want to do since the barn is no place for expensive prescription glasses. I got the regular combination lock, and I’ve owned it for a few months (and a few plane rides now). I actually keep it locked on my backpack, in case I’ll need to quickly lock it and seal the backpack. I think it’s enough to deter someone from opening your bag and stealing something, but would definitely not deter a more adamant thief.
