The scooting system was smooth and the steering was really easy.. I purchased two of these bags, for my 5 and 7 year old. We took one trip to San Francisco and the bags were great–the kids used them through the terminal and everyone who passed by us asked where they could get one. Do NOT buy this!! Cutest, most clever product but it failed on us after the first use. I bought this a month in advance of a cross country trip. I wanted to plan ahead and get used to how this worked: folding the scooter up and down, maneuvering. It is not easy to fold up and down. You have to pull out on the scooter panel with some pressure.
